Cherry kitchen cabinets are one of the most popular types of kitchen cabinets in the United States. There are many reasons for this, and there are also many benefits to having them. Here we will highlight three of the benefits to having cherry kitchen cabinets installed in your kitchen.
- Durability – Cherry kitchen cabinets are made of, you guessed it… cherry wood. This wood is a favorite for cabinet makers because it is so easy to work with, and lasts a long time. It is not as durable as some of the more expensive woods like mahogany, but it can certainly pass the test of time in an average American household. It is certainly much more durable than particleboard which less expensive cabinets are often made of. Cherry trees are generally found in the Eastern portion of the continental United States, and have been a favorite for cabinetmakers for many years.
- Look – Cherry wood has several unique characteristics, each of which add to the look of the cabinets that are made from it. One of the distinctive benefits of cherry wood is that its color deepens and becomes redder with time. This usually takes between one month and several years. Over the course of its life cherry wood goes from an almost blondish, light-colored wood to a deeper red, and makes the kitchen look much warmer and inviting.
- Price – For its durability and visual appeal cherry wood does is one of the best options around as it does not cost as much as other comparable woods. Cheaper products can be made to have the same look of cherry wood with stains, but they are often not as resistance to moisture, and do not offer the necessary protection to be an effective cabinet set.
